Network conferences continue to produce important new books covering

New
books for 2006
A
new book on the subject of Large
Scale Conservation Connectivity (Conservation Corridors) Management
is currently in development by the Network, and will be published
in 2006. It will be one of the outputs from our Mountain
Conservation Connectivity Management Workshop that will
take place in Quito, Ecuador,
14-17
November

Transboundary
Conservation: A New Vision for Protected Areas

Stunningly
illustrated, this book represents the work of fifty conservationists,

several of our Mountain PA Network members.

At
the 2004 World Conservation Congress in Bangkok, the
Mountain PA Network celebrated the launch of two books produced
as outputs from our Drakensberg
Workshop prior to the World Parks Congress in 2003:
- Managing
Mountain Protected Areas: Challenges and Responses for
the 21st Century
- Guidelines
for Planning and Managing Mountain Protected Areas
(shown below in its three editions )
A handbook of principles and practical guidelines aimed at conserving
the rich mountain heritage of nature and culture in the high
places of our world. A new edition of the 1992 version, it is
directed to those who have a role in managing protected areas
in mountain environments.

The
Spanish Edition was translated by Ms. Elena Sarmiento, with
Mountain PA Network member Dr. Fausto Sarmiento serving as science

The
Russian Edition was translated by Mountain PA Network
member Dr. Yuri P. Badenkov and published in 2005. It
is available
through Dr. Badenkov at the Institute of Geography,
Russian Academy of Science.
